The Dream We Form By Being Together

Various Artists

The Dream We Form By Being Together is the Borealis Gallery’s sesquicentennial exhibition. It opens as institutions around the country celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. This exhibit centers on the theme of reconciliation and emerges from the awareness that art can play a central role in this process. Rather than adopting conventional colonial and euro-centric approaches to Canada’s most recent 150 years, which implicitly erase Indigenous stories, we commemorate Canada’s fuller history and present day with an Indigenously-oriented cross-cultural approach to art in Canada. The visitor is invited not only to view, but rather to engage with stories and artworks in an intimate, tangible, and meaningful way. This exhibit is comprised of Albertan works from 19 different artists, coming from the AFA and private collections.
