Friday June 30, 7 – 9 pm
Saturday July 1, 1 - 4 pm (make your own slides, workshop)

Patrick and Sophie are engaged to bring stories back to life by looking into their French-Canadian history. They study their heritage through text, photography, film, correspondence, genealogy and oral storytelling. Through conservation efforts with their grand-mother’s documentary heritage, Sophie and Patrick’s journey has heightened their sense of ancestral empathy, their respect for medicine and their interest in their maternal lineage. How did our landscape change in the last 100 years? What did people take pictures of? How did they see and experience the world? Where did they travel?

Le Salon Slideshow is an immersive scenographic and nostalgic installation where visitors come together, reflect and share our Canadian stories. This installation is facilitated by Patrick and Sophie Arès-Pilon who share a unique interest in exploring their family’s documentary heritage by archiving their Grand-Maman’s life through the Sevihcra project (sevihcra.org). People are invited to enter a space where we go back in time to view Canadian vintage slideshows of the 1900’s, featuring local and national scenes. Visitors will be able to relax amongst époque furniture and atmosphere. This is all to incite visitors to share their stories by bringing their own slides to be shared during specific show times.
