| Project and Artwork Description: The untitled mural was originally created in 1995 by First Nations artist Eugene Demas. Painted directly onto a rough interior concrete wall the mural was a focal point of hope while a drug den, known as The Fortress, was transformed into a refuge for prostitutes. When the house was demolished in 2002, the impact of the mural inspired community efforts to extract the mural in its concrete structural form. After some structural dilemmas, the mural was successfully rescued and remains a symbol of dignity in our community.
