Scope of Competition:  Direct Invitation Competition

Project Description: Sculptors from the Capital Region were invited to submit proposals for a life-size bronze statue depicting Dr. Lois Hole as she was in her later years during her term as Lieutenant Governor. This prominent artwork will be for the enjoyment of the community, the Edmonton public and tourists alike, by creating a welcoming sense of space in Edmonton’s newest Library.

Artwork Description: this life-sized bronze statue reflects Dr. Lois Hole’s passion for both reading and gardening.  She is seated alongside a bouquet of daisies, on a garden bench with an open book in hand, inviting viewers to stand, come alongside in a wheelchair, or sit beside her on the bench for a few moments of quiet reflection.

Project Cost:  $100,000 commission
