"Designs on the Future"

Laura Vickerson
Snow White and Rose Red

Inspired by the resurgence of romantic gothic literature, Laura Vickerson created a double costume set based upon the classical fairy tale of the sisters Snow White and Rose Red. The work consisted of a cape belonging to Rose Red that was constructed from red and white rose petals and a corset made of wax for Snow White.

David Hogg Artist Demonstration
Churchill Square

Soapstone carver David Hogg provided the visitors to Churchill Square an ongoing, live demonstration of his work. Hogg was the winner of the Works 1996 Corporate Commission Award and carved a raw 150 pound pillar of stone on site. In conjunction to his work on the Square, other carvings by Hogg were on display in Holt Renfrew at Manulife Place.
