Everett Laroi Band

A mainstay of the Edmonton music scene since the 1980s, singer-songwriter Everett LaRoi has been playing shows around Alberta in support of his new single “Stuck In Another Time” from his upcoming full length album Morning Stars Mournings Hush (releases August 22, 2025).

Accompanying LaRoi on guitar and vocals are some of Edmonton’s finest musicians: drummer Mike Silverman (Deep Dark Woods, Kacy & Clayton), bassist Tom Murray (Old Reliable, Pal Joey) as well vocalist/keyboardist Alice Kos (GoldTop, Mark Davis).

LaRoi’s lyrics are sprinkled with visual snapshots and pithy observations of a certain striving for a life well lived, delivered with a straight face with occasional understated deadpan wit. Imagery of dirt paths amongst the trees, poking at a camp fire with a stick, and the rush of jumping into a cold lake emerge from topics ranging from chasing down demons, mourning loss, and the power of friendship and trying to appreciate the present moment amongst a world gone awry.

Musically, the Everett LaRoi Band has continued to mine the future possibilities of instruments and sounds of yesteryear: shuddering echo-laden tremolo guitars, ear worm vocal melodies and offbeat lyrical phrasing laid over folky drum kit grooves and shimmering vocal harmonies. As well as new original songs, Everett often includes deep cuts from a back catalogue of songs from the bands he has fronted over the years: Idyl Tea, Manraygun & Goldtop.
