Mushroom Walk in Mill Creek Ravine, with mycologist Willoughby Arévalo

Mushroom Walk in Mill Creek Ravine, with mycologist Willoughby Arévalo

Offsite: Mill Creek Ravine

Monday, June 29
10:00am - 12:00pm

Join mycologist and artist Willoughby Arévalo in this interactive and educational walk, to learn about local fungi and plants and how they interact with other members of their ecosystems, including humans. Hosted as part of The Works Festival for Art & Design, this forest walk will also highlight the olfactory qualities of fungi, inspired by the artist's installation.

With the hands of an artist, the eyes of a mycologist and the heart of a deeply connected human, DIY Mushroom Cultivation author Willoughby Arévalo brings the practical and the joyful together through the science and wonder of mycology. His work is an invitation to not only learn from fungi, but to grow one’s true earthly relationships. His lifelong friendship with fungi has led him down a mycelial pathway and for over 15 years he has shared mycology with communities across North America and Europe.

The event will be hosted rain or shine.

Location: Mill Creek Ravine, Edmonton. We will meet in the cul de sac at the end of 77th avenue NW, east of 96 street NW.

Transportation: The meeting point is close to bus stops 2164 and stop 2265 which serve lines 501 and 525. There’s lots of unlimited free parking.
