Sayeh Taheri

Sayeh is an Iranian-Canadian visual artist based in Edmonton. She holds a BFA in Painting from the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino in Italy and an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from Alzahra Vocational College in Tabriz, Iran.

Her practice is grounded primarily in drawing, with extensions into painting and printmaking, and is shaped by her lived experience of migration and displacement. Drawing on personal and collective memory, her work explores themes of human rights, freedom, identity, and resilience, particularly in relation to women’s experiences.

Through an expressionistic visual language, Sayeh develops images that engage with the emotional and psychological dimensions of injustice and migration. Her work emphasizes symbolic imagery, repetition, and the interplay between vulnerability and strength, creating space for reflection and interpretation.

Sayeh has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions across Iran, Italy, the United States, and Canada. Her practice continues to evolve through engagement with artistic communities and mentorship, expanding her visual language while fostering dialogue, reflection, and shared understanding.
