ARTIST STATEMENT

Humanity - A Series of Contemporary Portrait Paintings

Humanity is a captivating and thought-provoking project that encompasses a series of contemporary portrait paintings. Each artwork within this collection is distinguished by its landscape size, providing a visually immersive experience for the viewer.

One of the remarkable aspects of Humanity is the deliberate absence of predefined skin colors. By omitting specific tones, the artist emphasizes the fundamental truth that humanity transcends race and ethnicity. It celebrates the inherent equality and interconnectedness of all human beings, serving as a powerful reminder that regardless of external appearances, we are united by our shared humanity.

Furthermore, each painting in the Humanity series features a vibrant yellow hue adorning the upper section. This symbolic use of yellow represents hope, an ever-present beacon that illuminates our lives even in the most challenging circumstances. It serves as a visual metaphor, reminding us that hope is an integral part of our existence, fostering resilience and inspiring optimism.

The purpose of the Humanity project extends beyond the realm of art. It carries a noble cause, as the artist has pledged that the proceeds from the sale of these remarkable paintings will be dedicated entirely to the Edmonton Food Bank. This philanthropic endeavor ensures that each contribution made through the acquisition of a Humanity painting directly supports those in need, offering nourishment and sustenance to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Humanity invites you to immerse yourself in a visual journey that challenges societal constructs, promotes unity, and instills a sense of hope. With each stroke of the brush, the artist invites us to reflect on our shared humanity and embrace the power of compassion, empathy, and solidarity.

By supporting the Humanity project, not only will you acquire a stunning work of art, but also actively participate in making a tangible difference in the lives of those who are struggling. Together, let us celebrate our commonalities, break down barriers, and nourish both the soul and the body through the transformative power of art and generosity.
